Why the PADI Open Water Course?
PADI is one of the largest diving organisations in the world. Upon completion you will receive a certification card that is recognised world wide. So basically wherever there is water you can dive.
The Open Water Course is the beginner course that teaches people the basic skills required to start diving safely.
What do I need to begin?
Before you begin there is a diving medical questionnaire that needs to be completed to make sure that there is nothing that could cause any issues while diving.
What will be involved?
The first part of the course will develop an understanding of the basic principles of SCUBA diving. You can start the learning in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. We then go over a review of what you've learned at home and will take some short quizzes to make sure that you're understanding the important aspects and then it's off to the water to start your confined water training.
Confined Water Training
The confined water sessions are generally most people's first experience breathing underwater and truly unforgettable! We develop the basic SCUBA skills that people need as divers. Here you learn things like how to set up your SCUBA equipment, how to take water out of your mask while still submerged as well as some emergency procedures and more.
Open Water Dives
The open water dives are why people sign up to learn how to dive. We take the skills that you've learnt in the confined water sessions and put them to use in open water. There are four open water dives and these dives can be completed in the ocean, a lake or a river.
How long will it take?
The Open Water Course is performance based. What that means is that you move on to the next level once you're ready and have successfully completed the components necessary, which can vary depending on how quickly you progress through the different modules. Courses are very flexible and can usually be tailored to a person's specific needs.
The course includes just about everything you need to complete the course comfortably.
All equipment use for duration of course
What's NOT included?
We provide most things necessary, but there are a few things that you will need to be able to provide yourself.
Food, Water, etc.
That pretty much covers it.
After completing your Open Water Course many people go on to do their Advanced Course or their Nitrox course straight away but there are many options to choose from whcih you will be shown in the class.
